If you happen to be in Australia over the next few months, an exhibition of cultural objects on the theme of the
history and influence of
Alexander the Great from
antiquity to the present day has opened at the Australian Museum in Sydney. It is the largest
collection of treasures to come to Australia from the State Hermitage in St Petersburg,
Russia.
The 400 artifacts to be seen in Sydney will include the Gonzaga
cameo, a figure of
Heracles from the 2nd century AD and a polished black basalt statue of
Cleopatra VII.
The exhibition will end on the 1st of March 2013.
