I've
had an interest in the Borgias since reading about Cesare Borgia in The Prince and undertaking further research to understand why he
had such an impact on Machiavelli. A fascinating family that seem to be receiving a lot of attention lately. There have been two recent television drama series about them (I recommend Showtimes
The Borgias with Jeremy Irons as
Alexander VI) and they also feature in the extremely popular video game series Assassins Creed. The Borgias, and Lucrezia in particular, received quite a
bit of attention here in Australia a few years ago when the National
Gallery of
Victoria announced they
had identified one of their
portraits as depicting Lucrezia Borgia:
