Gordian III sestertius patina
« on: June 08, 2012, 10:13:34 am »
hi! this is my new coin, a Gordian III sestertius. I bought it because in my opinion it has a lovely green patina...what's your opinion?

Gordian III
sestertius ( 240 AD)
Obverse/ IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, laureate, draped & cuirassed bust right, seen from behind;
Reverse / ABVNDANTIA AVG, Abundantia standing right, emptying cornucopiae.
RIC 274a, Cohen 1.

A very nice sestertius - it looks like there are also patches of red on the portrait which look like encrustations. If so it might even be possible to improve the appearance of the coin further.

yes, but I'll not touch the coin for not eventually damage it ... I made another photos where the patina looks like it is in hand...
