Geta, MINERVA
« on: May 23, 2012, 04:51:34 pm »
The Minerva reverse types of Geta as Caesar are generally common but these usually turn up with a PONTIF COS  reverse legend. The type also occurs with a MINERVA legend and these are generally much scarcer.

Geta  Denarius
Obv:– P SEPTIMIVS GETA CAES, draped bust right
Rev:– MINERVA, Minerva standing left, leaning on shield, holding spear
Minted in Rome. A.D. 205-208 (BM dating)
Reference:– BMC 454 (citing Devonshire Coll. 1844). RIC 46 (Scarce citing Cohen 77). RSC 77. RD (9 examples).
