Native American "indian" Antigonos II Gonatas

Why is it that Apollo looks like an Indian, from maybe South America, on this reverse of Antigonos II Gonatas?

Wreathed head of Poseidon facing right. Apollo seated on prow of galley left holding bow, monogram below.

In what respect does this person resemble a native?  You can probably assume any resemblance is coincidence.

The face clearly looks like an indian. I asked several other persons in real life "What does this person look like?" They all said like an indian.
Could be coincidence or maybe the celator had seen people from South America.
