Would appreciate help with my little camel
« on: May 04, 2012, 07:39:05 am »
Hi all,

These are photos of my small camel which I originally thought to be an example of African lost wax casting. I now think that this is not correct as it seem generally finer than most I have seen - a suggestion has been made that it is a cricket cage from India - that's right - a cage to hold pet (?) crickets???

sbout 45mm high x 65mm x 30mm, has been cast in brass and looks fairly old (probably not an antiquity).

I would appeciate any information that you can give.

All the best,
Col

It looks like an African lost wax casting to me (Nigerian Benin bronze). So I guess that's not much help as you've concluded otherwise!
