An interesting Galeria Valeria from Siscia
The robe round the neck of interesting shapes (some of victoria ??) can be seen.:))
I have not seen anything like it before. Does anybody have a view on this?

Very interesting coin indeed.
I remember seeing only geometrical patterns, you coin shows elaborate scene.
It is always great fun to find artistic die especially in this very crude style issue.

Quadrans,

I took me a while to figure out what you were talking about but then it "clicked".  Fascinating.  Any chance of posting a close up, possibly rotated a bit?

Fantastic!

Yes quadrans, that is just what I was looking for.

So what are our little victories doing??  The two in the left panel seem to be bent over an altar.  The one on the left has a wreath??  What about the one on the right?  Hand in a cornucopiae??

I didn't know that decoration existed, thanks for posting! The busts of Galeria from Thessalonica have many variations, mainly in the diadem, but here's a wonderful bust variant from the Siscia mint. I wonder if these figures might be Erotes?

Gert

Hi all,

Yes, I would concur that they are Erotes/Cupids. Which, of course, would fit with the reverse type, Erotes being associated with Venus. Not that the Venus featured, with her massively over-developed torso and arms and her huge head is exactly appealing

Regards,

Adrianus

Shut up or Venus will deck you!

Seriously, what is the cupid in the right panel doing?  Misceviously reaching into a cornucopiae to steal fruit??
