Sasanian? Indo-Greco coin?
« on: January 13, 2012, 06:16:00 pm »
I saw this item at a coin show, but haven't been able to find it on wildwinds or other sources. I'm not sure if it's Sasanian or Indo-Greco origin. 32 mm, 4.1 gm.

Tony, It looks Ottoman. The Tughra is very noticeable.

This is a piastre of Mahmud II, sultan of the Ottoman Empire, minted in Constantinople in 1835-1836.
