David,

From that photo and without the coin in hand, how are you reading  :C: :Greek_Omicron: :Greek_Nu: :S: :Greek_epsilon: :dot: - or indeed anything - in exergue?

Trier also has the branch and transverse scepter. Same legend breaks as in your coin reverse.

there s no exergue on your coin , i doubt you ll be able to id this purely on style

8$ is too much in my opinion for a coin with no exergue

I see a dot after the A in PVBLICA. Then it could be Constantinople.

Unfortunately not conclusive:

Thats why I said could.
Edit. But the dot  in your pic should be placed after the A of PVBLICA or the TRP of Trier prima ?
Could make a difference.

unfutunatly I an not in an area with roman coins. I live in central Maine USA. NO roman coin dealer for over 200 miles from me. so to me 8US is not bad. I have no chance of finding roman coins unless on an aution site. I know it is Helena that is good enough for me.

Don't worry about the exergue or the price. I ve seen coins ( or parts of )in much worse condition than yours, and not necessarily rare go for much more.
With some patience it could be attributed to a mint IMO.

i doubt it

the dot is too high to be part of the exergue

Or too  low to be part of PUBLICA. I am not an expert in LRBs but I do own a nice HELENA. Theodora does not fit in my collection. Ending with Eugenius.

 Benito

I caught you out again

The Theodora in this coin is not the wife of Justinianus rather Constantine`s Step mother and second wife of Constantius I .

Theodora was Maximian`s daughter and was also the mother of Delmatius and Hannibalianus.

these coins were struck around 337-340 Ad so they should be in your collection , they are way before Eugenius !

You caught nothing. You mentioned Theodora and a link to
https://www.forumancientcoins.com/catalog/roman-and-greek-coins.asp?param=50745q00.jpg&vpar=869&zpg=63018&fld=https://www.forumancientcoins.com/Coins2/

plus the comment " better try your luck with this , you might get a helena or theodora".
I went to the link , clicked in or around  www.forumancientcoins. and all I saw was  a bunch of LRBs. Vade retro I said to myself,I do not collect that, what a loss of time. How was I to know what Theodora you were referring to.
BTW. Lovely Helena. It has been discreetly cleaned and now it looks even better with a developping iridescent toning after  the "tortilla de patatas" trearment . Not useful for BD .

why would i buy from a bunch of LRBs when I am looking for a particular coin It would cost much more to buy in the hope of finding the coins I need for my collection.
