Ottoman AR 10 Kurush Mule
« on: October 03, 2011, 11:12:38 am »
Dear Friends

This coin attached to this message is a "mule" or error coin. I am trying to have its authenticity confirmed and would appreciate input into this matter. The coin is displayed in the Ottoman Museum of Europe (Osmanisches Museum Europa)

Obverse: regnal year 33 Abdulhamid II
Reverse: 1327AH Mehmet V Resat

minted in Qstantaniyye. Metrological data will be supplied when available.

Please help to determin its authenticity and also any information is highly welcome.

Thanks in advance

Best wishes
Burak

the coin does indeed look like a mule

now i would suggest you look at the edges of the coin to make sure it is not 2 coins that have been flattened and then joined toghether

bear also in mind that this coin was struck during the first world war in a time of crisis , so they might have made some mistakes or they might have run out of dies
