It appears to be an
Ottoman akche of Mehmet II (second reign) struck at the
mint of Ayasuluk and dated 867 AH. Inscriptions: "Mehmet bin Murad
Khan 'azz nasrahu 867(?)" / "Khallad mulkahu zarb Ayasuluk". Mehmet's name is very indistinct at the top of the
obverse, but it couldn't be anything else. The
mint name is very clear. Ayasuluk is a fortified
hill near
Izmir, traditionally the burial place of St. John the Apostle. Nice coin!
