But what about the rash of 1 and 2 ratings? Are those also from the same person?
There are six ratings,
members are free to choose whichever rating they think a coin falls into. Although you or I might think it "not nice" to vote a one or a two, there is nothing to stop someone doing so on a coin he or she particularly does not like.
The issue with low voting is if it is done consistently and maliciously, as was the case with
geta12. As said before, the ratings are not all about the
head to heads, they are there to try and raise the
bar on the
quality of coins posted in the BOT.
Members are free to add any coin that they see fit so, to take things to extremes, if someone added a porous, worn,
zapped common coin with a hole in it to the BOT it would not rate even a one from me.
Perhaps the wording of the
star system is confusing to some people, (three stars is, after all, "
good" and two stars, "
fair"), so someone voting three might think that they are voting appreciatively. I do not know.
I do know that it would not be acceptable to conduct a witch-hunt for anyone who happened to vote a low rating on the odd coin. If we did that then there would be no point in the ratings at all, and that is
part of the fun.
