Antoninus Pius as Lupa Romana variant
« on: June 06, 2011, 04:48:00 pm »
Antoninus Pius, Rome mint, 143-144 AD.,
Æ As (26-28 mm / 8,99 g),
Obv.: [ANT]ONINVS AVG PI - VS P P TR P C[OS III] , his laureate head r.
Rev.: IMPERATOR II / S C , Lupa Romana (she-wolf) standing r., suckling the twins Romulus and Remus; boat in exergue.
RIC III, 120, 734a .

This type usually shows the reverse S C divided by the boat.
So far i found no other picture of this type with S C over the boat.
Maybe our Pius specialist Frans D. knows another one?

Regards
 :)
