Beautiful set of reverses you have there without doubt kc. The
temple of Janus with the doors closed is a
reverse I have been trying to obtain a
good example of for years (at a
price I could afford). Yours has the doors very nicely detailed, giving a clear impression of what these famous temple doors must have looked like in Nero’s time.
The
Gallienus reverse is surprisingly
good, at a time when it must be admitted the
reverse was often not given the same attention as the imperial
portrait. (All the more reason to be jealous!) Then there are the two galley reverses, always desirable. But my favorite is the
Ops reverse of
Antoninus Pius, so well designed, graceful and pleasing to the eye. Thanks so much for sharing.
