Andreas,

As I mentioned in the other thread regarding this coin:

What a cool coin! Love the way the oarsmen look like they are actually pulling at the oars.

Wonderful example.

I can just imagine Hadrian sitting in the shade of the stern covered area, yelling occasional directions to the crew while taking in the passing scenery and sipping on the occasional drop of red. "Antinous pass the grapes over here!"

Hadrian's tour of the empire... what a way to go! 8)

More like "Antinous, peel me a grape will ya?".

A great book is Marguerite Yourcenar's "Memoirs of Hadrian."

Thank you guys!

I like the heavy old Russian copper-pieces. I have added a very nice 10 Kopecks-piece:

Andreas,

I have to say that I am liking these provincials a lot more these days as they almost always seem to have interesting and (for the most part) well-wrought reverses. This one is no exception.

A beautiful coin!

A question for whomever can answer it:

Were the celators/engravers "farmed out" to the provinces or were they locals, possibly having been taught by the experts?

@Potator

Thank you.

@Sox

Many thanks to you.
Yes I photographed it myself. It took me a lot of time since I am not an expert in PC stuff.
