Tiny Greek Bronze - Griffon/Quadripartite Square
« on: September 20, 2010, 11:49:01 am »
Photos below of a coin I recently purchased.  The photos show the coin next to a US penny just so you can get a better sense of scale.  Closeups of the obverse and reverse below that.
Please excuse the photos, they were taken with my blackberry.

Relevant data:

12mm
1.03grams
Obverse: Griffon Left
Reverse: Quadripartite square, one dot within each square.
Letters surrounding square:

:Greek_Delta: :Greek_Alpha:  or :Greek_Delta: :Greek_Delta:
:Greek_Theta_2: :Greek_Omicron: OR :Greek_Omicron: :Greek_Omicron:
??  :Greek_Upsilon:
unknown

Abdera, Thrace maybe?
