¿Austria Thaler?
« on: July 20, 2010, 10:24:07 am »
Hi, honestly I dont't know too much about this type of coins.
¿Anyone can give me the dates of this coin?
¿Is there a chance that is a fake or a modern copy?

Thanks a lot for your help!!!

This is an Austrian double thaler of Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor, King of Germany, Hungary, Bohemia, and Croatia, Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy and the Tyrol. His portrait is conjoined with that of his second wife, Claudia Felicitas (de Medici), Archduchess of Austria in her own right as daughter of Archduke Ferdinand and Anna de Medici. The coin was struck 1673 to 1676. It appears genuine from the image.

it depends on the weight
it was struck as a thaler , 2 thaler , 3 and 4
with the 2 thaler being the more common

the Id is correct

True. I made an assumption about the denomination because the one I have is the double thaler and that is most common. This is why weight and diameter always should be posted when asking for identification help.
