Silver denaris, To clean, or not to clean?
« on: June 22, 2010, 05:27:31 pm »
Hi all, I recently traded  for my first silver coin to a friend for a nice Aurellian antoninianus. Should I attempt to clean this coin, or leave it? I am talking about the rust colored stuff, not the black toning.
Thanks!
Nathan
All the best,
Nathan

I quite like the coin as it is, so I would leave it.

I know I'm a little late on this one, but I must add my opinion.  No reason to clean this coin it is fine the way it is.  Nice acquisition, I think your new addition has a lot of 'character'.

me too. I thought I should probably leave it but wanted to double check. I think it is nice for my first silver. My friend said he found about 20 for sale and only one had a right facing bust, all the rest were left.
All the best,
Nathan
