« on: April 04, 2010, 02:43:45 pm »
Obv no legands to speak of nice bust. Rev not much better a little legend. I had it for some time in a bag of Severan bronzes but have not had much luck putting an ID on this one. Any help will be apreciated.

Can't be Diadumenian! Diadumenian was Caesar and the emperor on the obv is an Augustus because of the laurel-wreath. Rev. looks like Hygieia stg. r., feeding snake.

Best regards

Actually Diadumenian can be shown laureate in some instances,

1. Cilicia, Hieropolis - Castabala
http://www.diadumenian.com/hieropolis%20castabala.html

2. Judea, Aelia Capitolina issue a couple (e.g. Sear 3028 citing BMC 27.95,76;) along with bare headed examples

3. Lydia, Philadelphia (Ashmolean Museum, Oxford)

4. Lydia, Sardes (BMC 16 S264,169) - again an agnostic table example
(my image seems to have disappeared off the server for this one?)

and

5. Lydia, Thyatira (e.g Sear 2999 citing BMC 22.312,111;  ISEGRIM 14704; BMC 16 S312,111;) again with bare headed examples too

But yes - I agree, this is not him.
