In contrast to Salamis on Cyprus coins from the Salamis Island in the Saronic Gulf seem to be rare, especially BMC 7.

Maybe someone can help to complete this translation puzzle of the reverse formula of acclamation:

Ruzicka, Pautalia p. 174, no. 714 (2 pieces listed)

ΙC ΕΩΝΑ ΤΟΥC ΚΥΡΙΟΥC ΕΠ ΑΓΑΘΩ ΠΑΥΤΑΛΙΩΤΑΙC - IS EWNA TOUS KYRIOUS EP AGATHW PAUTALIWTAIS:

From another thread i learned "Eis aiona means" "forever" or "for eternity",
tous kyrious is "the rulers" or "the masters" in the accusative case.
So far it might mean "(We honour, cherish etc.) the rulers forever" or "... forever the rulers.".
"agathos" meaning "good." The good rulers or the good Pautalians?

 ???

Thanks

tous kyrious   should be translated as " their " rulers...lords..etc.
What about the EP  .EPI ..over ?

Solved: "The inhabitants of Pautalia (wish) the emperors forever the best".

Thanks to the translator!

Hello,

meanwhile 343 of my coins are fulfilling the search term "unlisted":

[BROKEN LINK REMOVED BY ADMIN]

Maybe my information was incomplete, my data are outdated or i´m wrong in some cases. But for the majority of these coins the statement will be true.

This should be the latest:

Trajan, Rome mint, 103-111 AD.,
Sestertius (ø 32,5-33 mm / 27,12 g), probably brass ("orichalcum"), axes about coin alignment ↑↓ (ca. 190°),
Obv.: [IMP] CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M T[R P COS V P P] , his laureate bust right, aegis on left shoulder.
Rev.: SPQR OP[TIMO PRINCIPI] / S - C , Ceres standing left, holding grain ears in right hand, torch in left, modius on ground at feet left.
unlisted (?) ; RIC II, p. 279, no. 480 var. (no aegis) ; cf. CBN 511 ; cf. BMC 771 note ; cf. Coh. 368 ; acsearch.info - ; wildwinds.com - .

Very nice. I have the same picture from the top of Saint Peter's.  Seems not too many know they can go up there.  It's one of the best views of the city.  You can even spot the Pantheon on the other side of the Tiber.

Fantastic photos!  I just got a chance to visit Rome this year and was quite impressed with the Palatine Hill, which with less crazy amounts of tourists, allows you to truly appreciate and imagine ancient Rome.  I suppose the Colosseum always had a zoo of people waiting to be entertained;)

Hello,

today i stumbled on this Licinius II follis on my Heraclea tray, RIC-rarity r5 but also an unlisted var.

Licinius II Caesar, Heracleia mint, officina 3, 318-320 AD.,
Follis (ø 18-19 mm / 2,77 g), bronze, axes about medal alignment ↑↑ (c. 350°),
Obv.: D N VAL LICIN LICINIVS NOB C , his small laureate and draped bust left, holding mappa and scepter.
Rev.: PROVIDEN - TIAE CAESS / S M H Γ/Λ , camp-gate with three turrets, no additional doors flanking central gateway; officina letter Γ re-engraved or corrected from Λ.
RIC VII, p. 547, no. 41 (r5, extremely rare for the type) .

I know these rarities mean nothing in times of metal-detecting and low interests in ancient coins.
But it was a lucky feeling i want to share.

Regards
