Another coin with countermark

Septimius Severus, AD 193-211
AE 26, 5.9g
obv. [.....] CEP - C[.....]
       laureate head r.
       beneath chin c/m delta-shaped incus (Howgego 782)
rev. [.....]
Male(?) figure stg. frontal, l. hand raised
      in l. field c/m NIKO (Howgego 553)
ref. cf. HrJ (2011) No. 8....1
coll. Hoeft

The countermarks are similar to those on HrJ 8....1. The N of NIKO is a bit different. Here it looks serpent-shaped with rounded angles.

The underlying type is different. It is Septimius Severus too, but whereas HrJ 8....1 shows on the rev. a river-god leaning l., here it is a standing male(?) figure, possibly the emperor.

This was contribution #125 to the next edition of Hristova/Jekov Nikopolis (2012). I think this too is worth a note!

A new variant?

Plautilla, AD 202-211
AE 27, 11.33g
struck under Aurelius Gallus
obv. FOVL.PLAV - TILLA.CEB
        draped bust r.
rev. VP AVR.GALLOV.NIKOPOLI.PROC I. (starting upper r.)
River-god in himation, nude to hips, leaning l. on rocks, holding in r. hand waterplant and
resting with r. elbow on overturned urn from which water flows l.
ref. a) not in AMNG
      b) not in Varbanov (engl.)
      c) Hristova/Jekov  (2011) 8.21.32.1 var.:
different rev. depiction, different rev. legend
heliosnumismatik, E-Bay, March 2012

The coin depicted in HrJ is very worn. So the rev. legend couldn't be read clearly. It looks like NIKOPOLIT PR.

Regarding #473, if Hristova/Jekov (2011) 8.21.32.1 is the attached coin from my collection then it is a double match.

http://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?topic=62648.0

N.B. the unusual orientation of the rev legend and the obv die wear on the epsilon at 4 o'clock.

A correction

obv. AVT M AVR - ANTWNINOC
Bust, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r.
rev. VP NOBIOV ROVFO - V NIKOPOLITWN [PRO]
       in l. field C - IC
in r.field in 2 lines TR / ON
Tyche in long garment, wearing kalathos, stg. facing, head l., holding
cornucopiae in l. arm and rudder in r. hand

The correct obv. legend is AVT M AVR - ANTWNINOC. After checking  all obv. in HrJ struck from the same obv. die the following entrances should be corrected too:
HrJ (2011) 8.26.13.2 is listed as AVT KM AVR
HrJ (2011) 8.26.35.8 is listed as AV KM AVR
HrJ (2011) 8.26.46.1 is listed as AVT KM AVR
