Constantine Campgate- Need help reading mint
« on: February 14, 2010, 06:14:54 pm »
Was listed in a junk box as SMANT(A), I thought it was  :Greek_Delta: when I bought it. Now I think it's most likely a B because A and  :Greek_Delta: don't satisfy the need for a Laureate head only AND a dot in the doorway. Do you agree it is SMANTB?

CONSTAN-TINVS AVG
Laureate head only
PROVIDENTIAE AVGG
Campgate with 2 Turrets, dot in doorway
18mm, about 2-1/2g

Thank you

That looks like a B to me. I'd say definitely not  :Greek_Delta:, and the top right looks too curvy to be A (and the crosspiece would be too strong for A too, I think).

Thank you all for your help.
I guess I should have said bargain bin instead of junk box.  It was a shoebox full of coins in flips for $5 a piece.  Some had indexes, most did not.  I have no coin stores around and this is the only coin show I've been to so perhaps my terminology is not correct.
