Hi,
I enjoy counter marks and this coin takes the cake. Its got on one side a griffin with a small circle in front of his fore leg, the other side has the AVG (Augustus) mark and then what looks like a IKA with a crack in the die (through the I) this is on top of what I think is an anchor.   I think the coin was once an AS but there no IDing it beyond that what I need help with is the countermarks.

Thanks
David S4

I think this cmk is a dolphin right with "objects", generally described as one patera and one wreath set at the opposing corners of the punch.
According to Rodolfo Martini it was applied only on asses and exclusively on reverse.
It's considered a moesic cmk.
Never found not alone, it is always in combination with other cmks, such as AVG, TICAE and helmet.

Thanks that's perfect the cmks are a exact match. I misread the IKA looking at the coin it is definatly a TICAE although the "E" appears more like an Ξ on my coin and the punch used to make it was on its last legs (cracking spreading apart on the left through the "T").
The combination also make a whole lot more sense now that its a helmet and not an anchor.
Thanks Again,
