Dear fellow collectors!
I got the following coin which gives me some troubles. Although worn, it seems to easily attributable:
Macrinus.
Deultum in
Thracia.
Obv.:
IMP M
OPEL SEV MACRINVS (
AVG?);
radiate head right.
Rev.:
COL FL PAC DEVLT; Goddess sitting left mit
patera (?) and
scepter.
24 mm. 7.50 g.
Unfortunately I couldn't track down the
type for
Macrinus in
Deultum - so if anybody has go a reference for me, I would be very happy.
Owing the fact, that I couldn't find another example (and nothing else, except maybe the
style which seems a
bit different from those coins from
Deultum which I have seen) I started to have some slight concern about the authenticity of the coin. Don't get me wrong: I don't really THINK that it is a
fake, but would like you to assue me that it isn't. Please share your opininions with me.
Any
help is highly appreciated.
Kind regards and semper
