Australian Museum Egyptian exhibition

If you happen to be visiting Sydney the Australian Museum's exhibition Egyptian Treasures: art of the pharaohs, has started with artifacts that include jewellery, sculpture, intricately decorated coffins and amulets.
To complement the exhibition, you can call 9320 6225 to book over the phone. For the Ancient Egyptian Night Talk series, 'Egyptomania!', that is running until the 24th of  November 2009.

The Nicholson Museum at the University of Sydney had a pleasing exhibition of imperial portraits on roman coinage two years ago.I took my bachelor's degree there almost forty years ago (although I did graduate studies in Europe where I have been teaching for some thirty years now). Sometimes I think that when the time comes I might just donate my numismatic collection to the Nicholson, that way it would be taken care of and avoid the heart-breaking dispersion that affects so many private collections put together with great passion and laboriously over many years.

There is also the "Museum of Ancient Cultures" at Macquarie University;

. . and for those considering a numismatic donation there is also this:

A little farther afield (from me at least) there is:
