Ancient writing?
« on: December 21, 2008, 11:25:57 am »
This is a miniature amphora from Palestine, early 1st Millenium B.C., 10 inches top to bottom.

There are four letters written on it. They look ancient and don't rub off although they may be written by the excavator for all I know. Assuming that they are ancient they could read (transliterated into English) "znpn" but again I might be completely wrong.

Anyone more knowledgeable than me have any ideas?
