Commodus(I think) Provincial

Here is a tiny little provincial from Nikopolis that I think is Commodus.  It's 17.16mm, 3.32g.  I think that the reverse is Artemis based on the little animal by her feet.

Am I close?  Does anyone know of a reference?

Hi Jeremy!

I think you are right. Not in AMNG. Varbanov (engl.) 2164, private collection, unpublished, rarity R4 from 10 (probably from same dies). Varbanov gives no obv. legend. But I think it could be M ANTWNEINOC - KOMODOC, beginning upper r., clockwise. The rev. legend starts with NEIKOPOL. The animal looks more like a stag looking upwards than the usual dog(?)

Very Cool, thank you so much for the information.  Not bad for $3.00 I guess.  I think your right about it being a stag rather than a dog.

I guess I need to buy the Varbanov volumes next!
