I am not a fan of most Domitian denarius portraits.  That is why it has taken me so long to acquire a coin of his.  This portrait and the overall quality of the coin persuaded me to bookmark this particular coin, save some money, and hope to goodness that someone else didn't get it first!

I know what you mean but his later coinage usually has excellent portraits and most can be had for not a crazy amount of money, especially the Minerva reverses.  Really nice coin!

Noah, I know what you mean about Domitian's portraits...but when he got his bearings after becoming emperor his coinage vastly improved in both style and quality. An emperor who truly cared about his coinage.

Thanksto you all for the comments!  Yes, Minerva is lovely and Domitian looks rather dignified and peaceful simultaneously...or maybe it is pompous and weary...either way, it is an expressive portrait

I just added this Herennius Etruscus Ant., but will have to take a break for awhile since the Mrs. is none too happy about my recent "spending spree."  :'(

you certainly speak for me.
there have been so many times i think "damn, is my gallery invisible?", like i had uploaded it wrong or something, and then Randy comes along and posts. it's very reassuring and helps assuage my insecurity.   ;)

but not to get sidetracked, you have scored another very life-like portrait there Noah... congratulations!

i feel the same way. the member's galleries are one of my favorite parts of Forvm, and a lot cheaper than the museum!

I've tried to do that but it got so late i ended up passing out at the computer desk, and then i lost track of were i left off so i decided to take it slow.  Great additions by the way Noah, it's always a pleasure browsing through your gallery, i am still very envious of your latest Constantine the Great addition with that great patina.  I also love the reverse of your Domitian Denarius, Minerva looks very noble and the stance is great.

Mike

Thanks for the compliment Mike.  Well, JC and Mike, it took me a long time to browse all the galleries.  I actually openned a word document and typed in the name of the gallery I would start with the next time I browsed.  My goal was to find my favorite coin in each gallery. Therefore, I had to view each coin to determine which I liked best.  It was fun, but very time consuming as well.

Ha!  That's right Titus Pullo!!  So, did you get to transfer your posts as well?  I would imagine all you had to do was go into your profile and change the name.  I suppose I could just try it, but, hey, I'm feeling lazy...

I don't plan on changing anything, but am curious about some of the nuances of the system in terms of what we can and can't change.
