Thanks!  I had gotten rid of several artifacts to purchase Romans.  I kept some, so I have decided, for now, to not sell them since they have intrinsic history all their own.  Thanks for looking Randygeki(h2)!

Nice collection Noah! Seems like we have similar tastes with coins and artifacts as well as being from the same state although I'm in Lexington.

Yes, we do have similar interests!  Well, I had no idea you were from Lex.  I lived in a little town down Harrodsburg Road called Wilmore.  I attended Asbury College and then worked in Lexington for two years. I met my wife there near a little bar/pool hall called Buster's off of either Vine or Main.  She is from Louisville.  Anyway, very cool!

Small world!  I've gone to High Bridge (Highest railroad bridge in the world when it was built in 1877)  many times for the view and to look for fossils.

Are you chiming the Bronze bell when it is mealtime? :)

kc, I did take it to school and chime it to get the kids to stop talking.  At first they stopped because it was an unusual sound, but once they figured out what I was doing, they simply ignored it.   ;)

Chip, I was just at High Bridge last week when I visited my brother in Wilmore!  It is a gorgeous sight.  If you look up the tributary that flows into the KY River, you can see the route three of us took by canoe on a fishing trip last fall.  We went all the way up to the dam at Herrington Lake.  I ended up catching a 3 1/2 lb. brown trout.  It was a good supper that night!  Take care...

Yep, the Dix river is great for trout. They like the cold water coming from the bottom of the lake.  Last time I was there we had to get out and push in a couple of spots.  Now back to coins... Regards

Peter, the weight is approx. 3 lbs.  I purchased it at a battlefield gift-shop a few years back.  They had hundreds of bullets, canonballs, buckles, and other high-end items for sale.  I have been meaning to attend a reenactment of the battle for years, but have never gotten around to it!

I am consigning three of my coins thru Forvm.  I hate to see them go, but it is a necessity... Here are the links to the three coins.  You can see my photos and compare them to Joe's in his online catalog.  Viewing both photos will give a better sense of the coins.

Thanks JC!  I am sad, but not heart broken...  There are a few I possess that I would cry over, but these are acceptable casualties of a poor economy and the necessity to pay for three kids in daycare.  There is a light, albeit far and dim, at the end of the tunnel!  ;)

I sold some things here and there to be able to add this one, but I think it was definitely worth it!

Clodius Albinus Denarius

I also picked this nice LRB up at a decent price.

Both coins are beautiful but the Clodius Albinus is exceptional!

Thanks mz; I got it at bargain price, so I had to bite the proverbial bullet!  Aarmaleand Bruno, I appreciate your positive feedback on my gallery.  Since my budget is limited (and under added constraint in this economy), I like to play around with my presentation.  It just makes me feel better!  ;D  Randygeki(h2) I really liked the Constans too!

I just purchased these two extremely affordable coins - $14 each - Constantine I Posthumous issue and Ming Dynasty first emperor Tai Zu (who expelled the Mongols)

Wonderful Posthumous Constantine. I like the desert patina, but the delicate engraving, especially on reverse, is excellent. Your "eye" is improving dramatically through time to find those little gems

Congrats my friend

JC, thanks for your kind words!  I actually bought this because of the reverse...I already had a Constantine in my collection, but this one was too affordable and beautiful IMO to let go.

On another note, I have been on an artifact/antiquities "kick" as of late.  Below is my album for these items.  My latest is a gorgeous piece of Baltic amber with a dramatic cicada nymph inclusion.  It had me mesmerized and, for a moment, a brief moment, made me forget I actually collected coins!  Don't worry, I am back on track now and will continue to add both items for this unique folder AND my Romans collection;D

Love the collection Noah!

Also, certainly appreciate all of your effort in photography as well as the all of the time spent sharing information on each item. Inspiring to a newb like me.

Cheers,

Kurt

That nymph is amazing.

I know!  :o  When I saw it for sale for under $100, I immediately bought it.  I don't recall ever seeing anything prehistoric like this for sale anywhere.  Most are fossils or smaller insects.  Thanks for the feedback Robert.
