Hadrian AS throwing me for a loop
« on: April 17, 2009, 11:48:48 am »
this came out of an uncleaned lot purchased a few years ago out of Serbia. I think it turned out nicely after initially looking like a slug. When I finally got through all the dirt it had a splotchy uneven patina that drifted away in the distilled water. I have a few more spots to flick off but I'm going uber careful on this one.

I saw a similar coin in scotus' gallery but I don't see a beard on mine? yes I can see it's well circulated - 180 degree rotation

any help is much appreciated

How big is it?  I can't seem to locate it in RIC and that's all I have at the office, my BMC is at home.  I'll see if I can find it this afternoon.

As, COS III S - C, Minerva fighting r., BMC 1337, Cohen 298, RIC 664.

I think a clean-shaven Hadrian is impossible, so his beard has just disappeared in the wear!
