Hi all,

For the first time in 32 years I've not bought any roman coin in a year, reason why I'm not on the boards so often.
Today, I post two coins in my gallery (well 1,5 coin actually) that I hadn't before for some reason, although they've been in my trays for a while now.

Both are from roman Gaul

Arausio dupondius (Orange) featuring Agrippa and Octavian : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-113548

Nemausus halved dupondius (Nîmes), from the third type (lacking PP) : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-113547

Thanks for looking

Hi all,

Again quite a while since I posted a new coin to my gallery.

The following are all my purchases of roman coins in 2014 and 2015.

The Faustina Diana Lucifera is the fourth coin in a new subsection devoted to Diana Lucifera. So far I have now four of them : Faustina Jr, Domna, Plautilla and Gordian III. Here is Faustina : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-121660

Although the republican denarius is a 2014 buy, I've had quite a hard time taking a good picture of it (and not sure I got it satisfactory), plus me being lazy, it had to wait before being displayed : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-121661

The two last are Alexandrian tetradrachms that I bought today at a coin fair in Aix les Bains (France), which is a cosy and cute spa town in the alps with an unexpectedly big annual coin fair for such a small city. They are both well struck on a full flan, and with an acceptable style :
Tacitus : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-121659
Diocletianus : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-121658

Hi all

This year has been all about filling gaps in my Dombes collection. Nothing really worth mentioning : little liards in years I didn't already had acquired and so on
A friend of mine selling some of his republican coins, I couldn't pass this Lupa romana fitting very well in my small she-wolf suckling twins series that I started to put together a while ago :

Hi all,

And here is my most recent addition to my Syro phenician tetradrachms collection : a Philippus the Arab tetradrachm from Antioch, featuring a very strong and lifelike portrait that I like very much and hope you enjoy too

Hi all,

Yet another Mark Antony denarius entering my collection. The quality isn't at it's best in terms of preservation, but it's quite rare a type, and the style is so good I could pass. Mark Antony's portraits, for distinctive they are, often bear a crude vision of the guy, while this one looks much more refined. Anyway, I like it !!

Mark Antony denarius, Crawford # 516/2 : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-127776

Thanks

Thank you Quadrans,

Now, a looong time sought after coin (maybe 20 years since I first looked at one and thought I would like to add it to my trays), but finding an example being eitheir nice and affordable is really tricky

Hi friends,

Here I come with my new entry. Even though I'm not currently very active on Roman coins collecting due to my focus on french feudal coinage, from time to time I take the opportunity of buying a coin that appeals to me

Licnius reduced follis : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-134553

And let me introduce to you the former one that I didn't advertise when I added it to my gallery but like very much nevertheless

Constantius II, AE2 : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-133312

Thanks guys !

Here's my 21st (and last but one) antoninianus from Trajan Decius' Divi series. I've been looking for a decent example of that Augusto/Eagle type, as they're a bit scarcer than the altar one. The last, and very tough to get will be a Marcus Aurelius/altar
