The tefaf at Maastricht is pretty good. Not the best for coins. I found two nice ones ,but left them there.
Not far away from Paris.

Two more additions in my tetrarchy gallery with two common but nicely preserved and almost fully silvered Folles for Diocletian and Galerius :

The Diocletian is not that spectacular being a bit weakly struck on obverse :

Hi all,

For a change I have created a new gallery. It's not ancient to say so, but a selection of various coins from kings of France to WW II, in various metals and denominations.
When people happen to know I am a collector of coins, they often ask to look at them, not exactly knowing what they are putting the finger on. I show this selection, because they can see Kings who "talk to them", and they can hold gold and silver, pieces of History in their hands.
Depending on the interest they show at this stage, I will go further down into the heart of my passion...or not.

Hope you'll enjoy (but all of you are already hooked on coin collecting...)

A very nice collection of early modern French coins! Many are very beautiful, especially the gold

I have a few of the later ones in my collection, but nothing older than the 19th century. Not yet anyway

yes, a very nice collection.
artistically the coins of the 3rd Republic are hard to beat, and very familiar to those of us who collect US coins. historically that is an interesting journey through time, thanks for sharing.

I've been looking for a decent Valerian antoninianus for ages. Surprisingly it's very hard to get together good metal, good centering and good style, not mentionning good state of preservation for that emperor. It is always a pleasure to browse through your gallery every now and then. Not only do you have a nice quantity, their quality is outstanding. I do also like your virtual trays because it proves my point. One is hard pressed to find a sub-par coin in the entire lot! Congrats my friend.
