The tefaf at Maastricht  is pretty good. Not the best for coins. I found two nice ones ,but left them there.
Not far away from Paris.

Two more additions in my tetrarchy gallery with two common but nicely preserved and almost fully silvered Folles for Diocletian and Galerius :

The Diocletian is not that spectacular being a bit weakly struck on obverse :

But the Galerius is very enjoyable IMO :

Hi all,

For a change I have created a new gallery. It's not ancient to say so, but a selection of various coins from kings of France to WW II, in various metals and denominations.
When people happen to know I am a collector of coins, they often ask to look at them, not exactly knowing what they are putting the finger on. I show this selection, because they can see Kings who "talk to them", and they can hold gold and silver, pieces of History in their hands.
Depending on the interest they show at this stage, I will go further down into the heart of my passion...or not.

Hope you'll enjoy (but all of you are already hooked on coin collecting...)

Here it is : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3530

A very nice collection of early modern French coins! Many are very beautiful, especially the gold ;D
I have a few of the later ones in my collection, but nothing older than the 19th century. Not yet anyway ;)

yes, a very nice collection.
artistically the coins of the 3rd Republic are hard to beat, and very familiar to those of us who collect US coins. historically that is an interesting journey through time, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind and encouraging comments

I've been looking for a decent Valerian antoninianus for ages. Surprisingly it's very hard to get together good metal, good centering and good style, not mentionning good state of preservation for that emperor. I finally found one having a reasonable proportion of all the above : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-67346

And as I'm always reluctant to buy just one coin at a time (it's just like peanuts and fries, you know, you can't eat just one  ;D ) I bought also a Severus Alexander featuring a handsome Mars on reverse : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-67347

I also just added three more coins to my feudal series of Dombes. Not that they are spectacular, but of highest rarity, two of them being second recorded examples of douzains minted in AD 1600 and 1606 :

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-67351

The "gros de Nesle" is a very rare denomination as such (less than ten known all years together) :

Hi all,

Back from an annual coin fair in Aix les Bains, very nice little town in the Alps, and eventually found there two nice coins

A Julius Caesar denarius : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-68987
A fourree denarius (my first fourree actually) of a very intersting type of denarius from Mark Antony that I was desperate to find in good condition AND for a good price : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-68986

Thanks for looking

Beautiful coins Potator.  I really love your Julius Caesar.  I wanted to rate it 5-Star, but for some reason that feature wasn’t available, hmmm  :azn:

@ Bud : thanks. I've removed the votes from my personnal galleries a few years ago, due to so many people voting 0 that generated a great frustration

Long time since I added something new to my gallery.

Here is an early republican denarius (M. Atilius Saranus 148 BC) : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-72039

Although the metal itself isn't perfect, the centering and condition are great and it's beautiful in hand

Back to coins purchases !!!

I've been on a coin diet for a while and am glad to come back to addiction again. Abstinence can't last forever  ;D

Here is a Pupienus sestertius, not a BoT by far but decent enough to be happy with : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-73953

Thanks for corrections and comments

Today, I played a bit with pictures, and created a new gallery devoted to virtual trays : https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3881

One of them you already know, displaying the 12 Caesars. The others are new

It is always a pleasure to browse through your gallery every now and then.  Not only do you have a nice quantity, their quality is outstanding.  I do also like your virtual trays because it proves my point.  One is hard pressed to find a sub-par coin in the entire lot! Congrats my friend.

Best, Noah
