Cast or not, ancient or modern?
« on: April 02, 2009, 05:09:02 pm »
This is a quadrans of Augustus, but the details look so soft that I think it must be a cast copy.  It is very worn, so could it be an ancient cast?  I see no cast quadrantes in the fake reports.

15x16mm, 2.88 grammes.

In my opinion it might just be a worn, struck piece, so no need to worry about ancient or modern casting!

Thank you, Curtis.  I still sometimes have difficulty telling which coins are casts.  In this case, an ancient cast would have been more interesting!
