no, the coin is covered in a thick greenish patina,
I was thinking of stripping it off but I think its better to leave it like this,
On the obverse I can read something like . . a t i i
the reverse is something like ILIX or HLX but I'm not sure...
the size is 16 mm

The reverse (or a very similar one) was used on some provincials from Nikopolis ad Istrum.  Do any of the letters look Greek?

Its definatelly a provincial coin.  The portrait looks to be the one of a young boy.  I think I can also guess the P GETA part on the obverse....

have a look at this temple type for a reveverse legend match from

Nicaea , bithynia

http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/bigpic.cgi?img=coins/./ric/geta/_nicaea_AE18_RecGen_520.jpg&ruler=./ric/geta/i.html

there are lots of provincial types, but see if the legend of yours makes any more sense now

:)

GC is of course 100% correct (as always). This is a common enough type.

Thanks for helping!
