A new reverse type for Philopappus

Severus Alexander, 222-235
AE 26, 10.98g, 345°
struck under Fir(mius?) Philopappus
obv. AVT KM AVR CEV - ALEZANDROC
Bust, draped and cuirassed, seen frontally, laureate, r.
rev. VP FIR FILOPAPPO - V MARKIANOPOLITWN (PP and WN ligate)
Homonoia, in long garment, wearing modius, stg.l., holding cornucopiae and patera
ref. a) not in AMNG: cf. AMNG I/1, 1043 (without modius)
      b) not in Varbanov (engl.)
      c) not in Hristova/Jekov (has no Homonoia from Philopappus!)
very rare, F, dark green patina
ex coll. Hoeft

There are some different Homonoia types for Philopappus, but Homonoia with Modius seems to be a new one!

New obv. legend and rev. type variant

Gordian III, AD 238-244
AE 27, 10g
obv. AVT KM ANT GORDIANOC AVG (VG ligate)
Bust, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r.
rev. MARKIANO - POLITWN
Ares, helmeted, with cuirass and mantle, stg. l., holding with r. hand shield set on ground
and resting with raised l. hand on inversed spear.
ref.: a) AMNG I/1, 1104 (1 ex., Imhoof)
Pick writes: "Ares (Virtus?)"; but it is surely Ares, because Virtus regularly is clad like
an Amazon with a bare breast
        b) not in Varbanov (engl.)
#1885 cf.: AVG not ligate! The ligate variant would have got a different number by
           Varbanov.
       c) not in Hristova/Jekov:
No.6.36.4.2 = AMNG 1105 (Ares too, but with a different obv. legend, and Ares holds
a patera in extended r. hand!)
           could be added as No.6.36.4.3
ex coll. Posa (German Forum)

Best regards

Edit: The above attribution is not correct. Actually it is Ares Hristova/Jekov No.6.36.11.1; AMNG I/1, 1104. Thanks to Charles Rhodes for this correction!

Jochen

Given the state of the reverse die I cannot tell if my reverse die is a match, but it certainly looks to be, but mine is paired with a different obverse die. My example is not in AMNG or H&J and I have not bothered with Varbanov. My example of the obverse die is paired with a seated Nemesis reverse. I don't have access to my notes whether or not this example is listed in AMNG or H&J, but note that the reverse only names the city.
