A new rev. variant

rev. VP MHNOFILO - V MARKIANOP / OLITWN
Nemesis/Aequitas, in long garment and mantle, without kalathos, stg. l., holding
rod in l. arm and scales in r. hand;: at her feet l. the wheel

      b) cf. Varbanov (engl.) 2002
      c) Hristova/Jekov No. 6.37.35.3 var. (different legend distribution on rev.)
 ex sanrode

It is difficult to identify the object in the l. arm of Nemesis. I think it is rather a club-shaped rod than a cornucopiae.

A completely new type for Philip I & Otacilia Severa

Philip I & Otacilia Severa, AD 244-249
AE 25
obv. [AVT ] M IOVL FILIP[POC AVG M]
below in 2 lines [WTAK CEB / HRA CE]
confronting busts of Philip I, draped and cuirassed, laureate, r., and Otacilia
Severa, draped and wearing stephane, l.
rev. MAR[KI]ANO - [POLEI]TWN (WN ligate)
Nemesis/Aequitas, in long garment and mantle, istg. l., holding cornucopiae in l.
arm and scales(?) in r. hand; at her feet l. the wheel

ref. a) not in AMNG
      b) not in Varbanov (engl.)
      c) not in Hristova/Jekov:
Seems to be a completely new type!
ex Guy Clark

Sadly some parts of the legend are lost. The obv. legend I have completed referring to the F of FILIPPOC which is situated at top of the centre of the obv. The position of the r. hand matches better scales than a rod. Wether there is actually an E in the l. field I don't know.

This Athena type of Elagabalus and Soaemias has been emerging with some regularity in the recent, now abating, flood of coins from Bulgaria on eBay and the internet.

I have images of eight specimens from that same die pair, some with the same die break on Elagabalus' wreath and some without that die break.
