It doesn't really add any information in this case. It is an incredibly common type.

I can agree with that, the common type. But,although the coins do not appear to be that big, there is always the possibility of finding two big medallions not in RIC::) sorry not in RPC???

How exciting that would be! A medallion with '3 standards' reverse:o

That's the excitement, emotion, mistery, organics  of coin collecting. To find the unknown, to find something that no one has found before. Right now I am examining a common LRB with Zeus and eagle at feet that IMO ,and so far, has less than the normal number of  feathers on the right wing.

The bottom coin (Gordian III) is far more scarce than the Severus Alexander.  The Gordian reverse has the two central standards topped with capricorns.  It is not rare, but less common than the typical wreath or eagle type.

Thanks for all your comments, They are not Medallions ! Sorry Benito.
Here are the weights and dimentions :
The Severus Alexander : 3.62g ca. 19 mm
Gordian III : 3.18g  18.5/20 mm

I was expecting them to be heavier since the common type which weighs about the same does not have the radiate crown or the centration pit.  Are these really common?  I don't have one with the two mentioned characteristics but this is not my collecting focus either.
