« on: November 05, 2008, 11:59:52 am »
AE 24mm  9.57g
Trying again--this time I've actually paired up the right obv. and rev.  Sorry to have wasted the time of those who responded to my original, now removed, post.  Thanks.

It is Caracalla. Reverse is a Roma seated left holding Victory and spear with a helmet under feet and kneeling German? before. Possibly P M TR P XVII IMP III COS IIII P P S C, an AS as per BMCRE 268A.
Regards,
Martin

That looks like a Roman As of 214 AD, RIC 533.

Here is the corresponding dupondius from Wildwinds, with rare left-facing portrait on obverse.
