A superb coin.
Can anyone explain the club and caduceus? Are the twin boys being associated with Heracles and Hermes (who weren't twins)? That would be interesting in the light of Commodus's later obsession with Heracles.

Alas, I strongly suspect this is a modern fake, probably pressed.

I know nothing about provincial styles except that some are very odd compared to those of Rome.  Is there another example of this coin to compare?

I note that the RPC coin correctly spells the city name TAR  COY, whereas the coin depicted here SEEMS to spell it TAP   KOY.

So your coin is not the one numis18 was selling?

Good to hear that you got your money back! But I think this is the identical specimen, so it changed hands quickly in between numis18 and you. The name "numis18" probably would have rung your alarm bell.

I think Numis18 was the original owner and the coin probably changed hand 2 times before I had it.

I had only 2 days and the coin was returned. The owner actually tries to refound his money.......I told him that it probably will not be easy.

Has this been added to the fake reports?  (perhaps this thread should be moved to the fakes board too - if so, it's best that the original poster requests it, using the report to moderator function).
