I was pleased to see this clean denarius pop out of the soil yesterday. Is it RIC 83?

It's RIC 74, dated by RIC to the earlier part of AD 228, presumably on the basis of the longer obv legend.
IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG

84 has the shorter obv legend IMP SEV ALEXAND AVG which continues on into TR P VIII.
