Constans II Solidus - Sear 972
« on: June 01, 2008, 09:01:33 am »
Hello Everyone,

I found this coin offered for sale.  It follows the type of Sear 972 but I find the style very wrong.  The solid dots for Constans's eyes are especially suspect.  The advertised weight is 4.21g.  The surfaces are odd too.  Fake?

I saw this as well. It looks like a freehand copy to me. Here are the first ten solidi of Constans II I pulled up on CoinArchives. Not even close!
