Help with Roman AE Maximianus?
« on: May 24, 2008, 05:48:07 pm »
Scratching my head trying to match this, but I'm stumped with the lettering:

I believe Obv reads IMP C MA _ _ _ _ _ _ VS P F AVG
Reverse has XXI in exergue an scene of concordia: two figures holding hands, with nike flying over the clasped hands.

2.85g (low weight)
20-21mm

The closest I got on WildWinds and coinarchives:

I get the impression these are not quite a match characterwise, plus weight difference.

Any help is appreciated.

Dominicus I believe this is probus. IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG
reverse appears to be CLEMENTIA TEMP and I'll guess XXI or KA_ in exergue.
