Identification: Need Help
« on: December 06, 2007, 10:04:53 pm »
I got this coin awhile ago and I have no clue if it is real or not.  I would be great if someone could identify it.  Only the front side has visible marking because the back side has a bunch of green lime  on the back of it.

Thanks,
Matt Steffens

Hello;
Could be Antioch AR4Drachm
Prieur 184  Septimius Severus AR Tetradrachm of Antioch, Syria. Struck 202-205 AD. AVT.KAI.CEOVHPOC CEB., laureate head right / DHMAPX.EX.VPATO.G, eagle standing left on thigh of sacrificial animal, head right.  Can't be sure because of the lack of rev. Should get you close.
