Hello Everyone, The 2007 Forvm
Website Awards process is now underway!
Now is the time to submit your nominations for the Annual Forvm
Website Awards. Later on in the polls we will conduct based on your submissions, we will be giving 1st Place (Gold), 2nd Place (Silver), and 3rd Place (Bronze) Awards to the sites that garner the most votes in each category (
Numismatic Excellence and Historical Studies).
But, first thing is first so here is what you need to know in order to nominate sites:
- To do so, you may nominate
up to five Numismatic Excellence Recipients and
up to five Historical Studies candidates. The latter category is a combination of eligible
Standard Classical Studies and
Medieval Studies' target='_blank'>Medieval Studies Recipients for the purpose of these Annual contests. Unused nominations in one category
cannot be used for another (e.g. seven for
Numismatic Excellence and three for Historical Studies).
- To be eligible, sites must have previously won a
Standard Forvm
Website Award and must have displayed the Award logo (or a previous Annual Forvm
Website Award logo if won) by 0000 GMT 16 November 2007. For your convenience, the eligible sites are listed below.
- It does not matter in which order you list your nominations. You may even simply give the numbers listed by the candidate names below in your message to us.
-
WildWinds won the Lifetime
Forvm Award For Numismatic Excellence by receiving Gold Awards in 2004 and 2005 and is thus ineligible for this and future contests.
- Submit your nominations to only one of the following
Committee members. Do not submit them to more than one
Committee member. If you have less than a certain number of posts on the FORVM
Discussion Board, the board programming will not allow you to send Personal Messages. Instead, please send your nominations
with your FORVM username to:

https://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?action=pm;sa=send;u=618- Nominations will be accepted until 0000 GMT December 8 (7:00 PM EST
Dec. 7).
If you're interested, you can read about issues dealing with the eligibility of certain candidates this year
Here.
I also listed the section from The Official Rules
thread that pertains to the
Annual Awards in case you need to refer to it for technicalities not addressed above.
So, let's have those nominations!
Thank You,
Kevin
"11. At the end of each year, there will be an
annual awards process to give gold, silver, and bronze awards to the most acclaimed of our recipients. Recipients must display the
standard (and/or annual, if applicable) award logo(s) they previously won to be eligible. Recipients in the "Recipient Websites That Have Gone Offline For More Than Six Months" section are ineligible.
11a. A recipient who
comes in first place in a given year will be eligible to win the gold only one more time. Upon winning the gold a second time such a site will be given a special Lifetime Award and will not be eligible to run again in the
annual awards.
11b. The regular award polls will cease during the
annual awards process.
11c. During the later
part of November and into early December, nominations will be accepted as such: a member submits up to five sites they would like to see in the annual poll for
Numismatic Excellence and up to five sites for the Historical Studies poll (
Classical Studies and
Medieval Studies' target='_blank'>Medieval Studies combined). Normally for each category, the eight sites that receive the most nominations plus any sites that tie with the eighth site on that list will be entered into their respective polls. Sites must receive at least two nominations in order to be eligible for said polls, except when less than six sites receive two or more nominations. If fewer than eight sites are nominated in one of the categories, then that will just be the number of sites in the said poll.
11d. During the later
part of December, the annual award polls themselves will take place. Board
members may change or remove their votes in a poll as long as it is open. The sites that garner the most votes will receive the respective gold, silver and bronze awards. Sites that tie for first, second, or third place will all receive the respective awards."
----------------------------------------
Certain sites have been given the award for portions of their site, and these are listed in italics where applicable. Certain sites also have their subject matters listed in plain black (non-italicized) lettering. Dates for when the award was given are also listed (mm/dd/yy). Sites belonging to
members of Forvm's
Discussion Board are listed in maroon, and their Forvm screen names are listed in maroon and parenthesis.
Sites or content in languages other than English have said languages noted in green. Sites that offer full or near-full translations in multiple languages have them listed with "and"s. Sites partially translated into multiple languages or with different sections in different languages have the latter listed with commas. Sites with only menus, introductions, or other non-content features in different languages have them listed in italics. English translations are offered when webpage design and translator-availability permit. When isolated sections of content exist for different languages on a site, direct links to them may be given as well. When present, you can access these features by clicking on a/the green language-name noted by a desired site.
