Is this a coin?

It is approx 20mm diameter and 6mm thick.
Is it possibly a seal or token rather than a coin?
Sorry to be vague but I haven't come across anything like it- particularly so thick.

my father had taken it to a museum previously for identification, they shed no light...

Useful to know roughly what it is- he was a taxi driver in Glasgow and most of the coins he collected are obvious- I'd begun to wonder if this was a masonic token or similar!

Hi Chris

It is a paisa issued by Ratan Singh (1828-1851) in the Indian state of Bikanir, now part of Rajasthan province.

The easiest point of identification for this is the turban ornament (a jewelled leaf) on the lower right of the obverse, see image below.
