One of the earliest types of Roman currency consisted, amongst other things, of oblong bronze castings bearing types in relief on both sides. These are known as "Aes Signatum" (3rd Century BC). These may have been used as bullion exchangeable by weight rather than as money. If your "find" is one of those it is worth a great deal of money.

such type of coins were in circulation in India from 600 BC to 400 AD.
