Small Silver Coin...any ideas?
« on: August 01, 2007, 10:22:02 am »

Having a hard time with this one and am unable to find a coin just like it...there are a lot of possible OTTO's and I can make out what is on the reverse at all...any ideas? Anyone can tell what the reverse is?

it looks similar in style to this Pfennig of Otto IV

Otto V, Brandenburg-Preussen (a now-blocked online listing).

AH!! Thats it...thanks. The reverse is a helmet...I sat there looking at it for an hour and didnt make the connection that it was a helmet. :(

That first CA example looks much more like a boar than a helmet to me; very hard to pin down! You got the Brandenburg-Preussen connection, which then yielded the one really reliable search-lemma besides ot+and+to+and+tto, namely otto+and+otto+and+brand+and pfen -- then Bob's (Otto's) your uncle.  Best wishes, archivum
