Unknown busttype Carinus?
« on: April 16, 2007, 02:29:09 pm »
Hi, I need some identification for this busttype of Carinus. What is he wearing over his left shoulder?
This antoninianus is a bustvariant of RIC 247 with Rev. AETERNIT AVGG, 3th emission Aug.283 from Rome.

Regards Ed

It's a standard radiate, draped and cuirassed bust....

Hi, maybe you are right, so it must be a scratch from his left to his right shoulder?

This is another one, RIC 248, radiate draped and cuirassed, both shoulders are clearly cuirassed.

Yes, it is a scratch. Perhaps from digging? Your 2nd coin is an unusual bust type because both shoulders show the flaps.

Best regards
