I wanted to share this Tet because I truly think the toning is marvelous.  I find the silvers with the dark toning accentuating the coin's features to be some of the most attractive out there despite price or rarity.

Philip I AR Tetradrachm

Attribution: Prieur 444, Syria, Seleucis and Pieria, Antioch (during his 4th consulship)
Date: AD 244-249
Size: 27 mm
Weight: 10.62 grams

Hi Noah,

Really attractive ; very nice details, and you're right : the accentuation given by the black toning is amazing.

Thank you for showing us

Well it serves me right to post this coin as mine and place it in my gallery prior to actually getting it in hand.  The dealer contacted me and explained that they mistakenly sold it to another person!!  I am getting a refund and an additional compensation money for the mistake, but am terribly disappointed in the loss.  I really like this one!   :'(  Oh well, I will use the moolah to purchase another nice coin that I will post here at a later date once I actually have the coin IN  HAND!!!

Best, Noah

Noah, you are very unfortunate to have missed out on that coin.

I have one similar, https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=111&pos=1, and even though I only really collect Constantines, like you I found this coin fantastic and had to have it  :)

Good luck finding another one.

regards

Mark

Thanks for your laments gentlemen.  I was definitely unhappy, but such is life.  I will collect the refund and tread on...  BTW Mark, I think you gave the wrong link in your post.  I saw the coin you are probably referring to.  It is nice.  Interestingly, the link you provided shows a Trajan coin in Best of Type which is mine.  Funny coincidence... I have placed the correct link to the coin I think you meant to show (truly a wonderful example!).
