Hello fellow coin collectors!

A recent purchase of mine has gotten me interested in dynastic issues and I was wondering if any of you folks had a few examples you wished to share with the group?

Here are a few that I have of Vespasian which he issued early in his reign to announce to the world his new dynasty:

BMCRE 2, RSC 5
Rome Mint, 69-70 A.D.
Obv - Head of Vespasian, laureate, r.
Rev - Bare heads of Titus on l. and Domitian on r., facing one another.

Here's one with a similar theme.

I have it written up as:

IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG TR P
Vespasian, head right, laureate
TITVS ET DOMITIAN CAESARES PRIN IVEN
Titus and Domitian seated left on curule chairs set side by side, each holding branch
17mm, 3.3g, 9 o'clock die axis
BMCRE 393 p80; RIC 293 p49
Lugdunum, AD 70-71

A very nice and rare coin you have there Steve, one of my favorite types!

The mint at Lugdunum did indeed have a distinct style.

Thanks.  If I remember correctly there's a similar Lugdunese issue but with the two Caesars on horseback, have you tracked down an image of that type?

I have a copy of the BMCRE II and on plate 13, numbers 14 & 15 an Aureus of the type is shown.

I do believe somewhere in my coin photo files I have an image of the denarius....but i will have to do a bit of digging.

The only image I have readily available is a Rome mint example, alas, it is not mine.

Wonderful Flavian coins guys. Thanks for showing them.

My interest in dynastic types is not restricted just to Flavian types, feel free to post any others you may have.

Hi

As Ecoli, the only dynastic coin I have is Antoninus/Marcus Aurelius, but it is a provincial AE35
